Where it begins
Claire Jewkes is a portrait and wildlife artist based in the North West of England, working primarily in watercolour. She is self taught, with a background in floristry that continues to influence her eye for natural form, colour, and composition.
Her work is inspired by the changing seasons, the animals around her, and the emotional connection we share with the living world. Whether painting wildlife or portraiture, Claire focuses on capturing something deeper than likeness something felt.
After stepping away from a long career in floral design due to injury, she returned to creativity in a new way, developing her own artistic voice through paint, pencil, and quiet observation.
Her pieces are known for their bold yet sensitive use of colour, fine detail, and subtle metallic elements, creating a soft, almost otherworldly quality that invites viewers to slow down and connect.
“In silence and shadow, I find the magic, a heartbeat in the brush, a story in every wing”
